THE PORTFOLIO SHOW
Background:
The Portfolio Show is a longstanding tradition in the department Drama. Open to all students of BFA Production and MFA Design it was previously funded by the Design Program in 2024 we secured resources and support from the department.
Impact:
It is an important outward facing event for the Department, which allows all Production
and Design students to share their creative and innovative work, and independent projects such as DR 577 Special Projects, with a greater audience.
When:
At the end of the Winter Term each year, it is staged typically to coincide with the
opening of Studio 4, as it provides patrons a pre-show and/or intermission activity. The show is also open during afternoon hours for other guests to view. It has been located in either the Second Playing Space or the Bleviss Laboratory Theatre.
Purpose:
The Purpose of the show is to provide a showcase for the year’s work of all students of Design, Technical Theatre and Stage Management, both BFA and MFA. As many facets of thesevarious specialties are not generally available to our audience, it is a way to highlight the manyand diverse talents and processes which go into making a theatre production.
